Professional career
After studying Biology (Neurobiology, Physics, Chemistry, Biophysics, Genetics) at the University of Regensburg and pursuing postgraduate studies in Biometrics at the University of Melbourne, Dr. Polz obtained a doctorate in Neurobiology at the University of Regensburg.
He began working as a research assistant for Neurosciences at the University of Regensburg. In 1989, he started as product manager at Kontron Elektronik GmbH, Neufahrn (medical imaging systems).
From the end of 1991 to 1995, he was product line manager at TomTec Imaging Systems GmbH, Unterschleissheim (medical imaging systems for ultrasound).
In mid-1995, he founded EchoTech 3D Imaging Systems GmbH, Hallbergmoos. He built up and managed this start-up in the area of 3D ultrasound, which involved global activities and alliances. He then sold the company to GE Ultraschall Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, Solingen. Until 2005, he was business unit manager and later European research manager for ultrasound at GE Healthcare.
Since 2005, he has been a self-employed interim manager, project manager and consultant in the medical technology and biotech fields.
