Professional career

After studying Physics (Experimental Physics and Electrical Engineering), Dr. Obbarius worked as a research assistant and completed his doctorate at the Institute for Plasma Physics at Hannover Technical University.

In 1981, he joined Flachglas AG, Gelsenkirchen, as group manager for research & development. From 1986 to 1988, he was development manager at Grün Analysengeräte GmbH, Wetzlar (development, manufacture, and sale of atomic absorption spectrometers and optical instruments). From 1988 to 1999, he worked as a development manager at medical technology companies Dornier Medizintechnik, Germering (medical laser equipment, lithotripters) and Richard Wolf GmbH, Knittlingen (endoscopes). From 2000 to 2003, he was head of development and technology at Junghans Feinwerktechnik GmbH & Co. KG, Schramberg.

Since 2004, he has been a self-employed interim manager and consultant with various remits, primarily in the medical technology industry, but also plastics/sheet metal working and engineering.

His core activities are process optimisation in development and production, product analysis and optimisation (applying value analysis methods), implementing/optimising professional project management and implementing/optimising innovations management, particularly at the early stage.
