Professional career

After studying mechanical engineering at the University of Coimbra in Portugal, he started his career in the engineering sector in 1989.

From 1989 to 1992, he held various positions at Fatal S.A.R.L. and Pecol S.A.R.L. both in Agueda, Portugal:

1. Head of production planning at different plants
2. Technical director and new product/production development director

Between 1992 and 2003, he held various positions at MAHLE (German automotive components group):

1. Production manager (MAHLE Portugal)
2. Engineering manager (MAHLE Portugal)
3. Corporate planning manager (MAHLE Piston Rings Division, global responsibility)
4. Quality manager (MAHLE Filtersysteme, France; implementation of ISO TS (Quality) and ISO 14001)
5. Plant manager (MAHLE Filtersysteme, Seboncourt, France).

Towards the end of 2003 he became general manager of an automotive supplier group manufacturing pistons, piston rings and cylinder liners in Portugal.

Alongside his general management responsibilities, Joao Carlos Neves works as a consultant/ project manager in the automotive, general engineering and manufacturing industries. He joined the MSP partnership in 2010.
